PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a condenser lens for use in an immersion transparent lighting device for microscopes, which allows the resolution of a high-NA objective lens to be sufficiently demonstrated. SOLUTION: A lens system is provided with a first positive lens group, a second positive lens group, and a third positive lens group in order from the light source side, and the first lens group has at least one cemented lens having a positive refracting power, the the third lens group has a cemented lens having a positive refracting power, and the third lens group satisfies conditions N<SB>1</SB>>1.7 and ¾N<SB>1</SB>-N<SB>2</SB>¾>0.09 wherein N<SB>1</SB>is the refractive index of a lens on the light source side of the cemented lens and N<SB>2</SB>is the refractive index of a lens on the sample side.
