PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method capable of taking proper countermeasures against the occurrence of abnormality in image forming processing executed by an image forming apparatus such as a facsimile machine; and to provide a data processing method, an image forming system, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus 1, an external communication section 105 accepts image data such as facsimile data (S101), the accepted image data are recorded (S103), and duplicate data obtained by duplicating the recorded image data are transmitted to a recording apparatus 2 connected to an internal communication network such as a LAN (S105).
