The invention relates to support means (10), which is for supporting a lateral conveyor adapted for mounting upon a mobile chassis, comprising a tail section (5), middle section (6) and at least one head section (7) having pivot points related to the conveyor frame separating said sections from each other. The support means comprises a variable length mounting arm (11a, 11b) comprising at least first (11a) and second sections (11b) and first and second ends, and means for locking the length of the mounting arm into at least one fixed length corresponding to the length of the conveyor in use. The first end is fixed immobile in relation to the mobile chassis and the second end is fixed immobile in relation to the head section of the conveyor.
