Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and system for electronic software distribution and management. A request for instructions may be received from a managed client machine. The request for instructions may be analyzed and may include asset inventory data. One or more instructio ns may be generated based on the request for instructions and the asset invento ry data. The one or more instructions may include an instruction to install an application on the managed client machine. An acknowledgment may be received from the managed client machine if the instruction has been processed.
