[Also in Division F2] A universally mounted member, such as a rear view mirror 44 on a vehicle, is positioned by a remotely located, universally mounted handle 92 acting through three Bowden cables 34 whose ends are grouped around central hemi-spherical headed supports 26, 64 for the mirror and handle respectively, the cables being tensioned by individual springs 106 which urge the handle and mirror against their respective supports. The cable cores 34 are secured to the mirror as shown in Fig. 13, or, if braided cables are used, by crimping or knotting. The supports 26 and 64 are screw adjustable in fixed brackets 22 and 54 respectively, and the handle 92 is screwed to a boss 72 which, in addition to its spherical engagement with the support 64, has similar engagement with a frame 56 attached by a nut 81 to a vehicle panel 80, the bracket 54 being riveted to the frame 56. Nipples 100 on the cable ends are retained in open-sided bores in bosses 84 on the handle boss 72 by spring clips 108 which take the reaction of the cable tensioning springs 106.
