An optical data recording device has a data recording aperture (23d) on the right hand side of a sprocket (43) in a position opposing to a topside margin of a picture frame taking area (22c) of photographic film (22a) as positioned behind an exposure opening (23c). A light guide (41) is disposed along a top side of the image tunnel (36), to produce a data recording light path toward the data recording aperture (23d). At the flash photography, the flash light is partly conducted through a light conducting device (40) toward the data recording light path, so as to record a bit mark (22d) on photographic film (22a) by use of the flash light. At the photography without flash, external light is taken into the data recording light path, to record a bit mark (22d) by use of the external light. <IMAGE>
