The mounting for a shaft on a vehicle has a bearing component (4) with a cylindrical housing for the shaft, an end face spring ring (5), and a step on the shaft for bearing against the spring ring. An annular locating shoulder (15) of smaller width is formed on the shaft step (14) for the spring ring, and a chamfer (16) is formed on the circumferential side in relation to the shaft section with the larger diameter and adjoins the shoulder either directly or at a small axial distance from it.
