PURPOSE: A mold clamping device is provided to reduce a necessary cycle time for a mold clamping and a mold clamping and to easily draw a tie bar. CONSTITUTION: A mold clamping device contains a fixing member(3), a moving member(4), a tie bar(7), a cylinder(9) for clamping molds, a moving device, a contact member(30) and a half nut(20). The fixing member supports a fixing mold(5). The moving member supports a moving mold(6). The moving member is movable toward clamping directions(A1,A2). The tie bar has a combined portion(7a) in a free end. The tie bar is supported by the moving member. The cylinder drives the moving member against the tie bar by installing in the moving member. The moving device moves the moving member toward the clamping directions and opens and closes the molds. The contact member decides the position of the tie bar against the fixing member by contacting to the free end of the tie bar. The half nut is clamped with the clamped portion of the tie bar. The half nut connects the tie bar with the fixing member.
