Method of manufacturing a medical implant

Production of a medical metal or plastics implant such as a stent, a hip prosthesis or a bone pin involves (a) polishing the internal and/or external surface of the implant and then (b) targeting surface zones which are to be roughened and/or structured with electromagnetic energy; and, finally, (c) coating these zones. An independent claim is also included for a metal or plastic vascular support with regions (2, 3) with structures (4) differing according to region and favoring subsequent coating.
