FIELD: railway transport; permanent way. ^ SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method temperature of sections of rail lengths is periodically measured and longitudinal temperature stresses of sections are calculated. Simultaneously with measuring temperature of rail length sections, longitudinal deformations of sections under force actions or changes of track state are determined and longitudinal stresses of sections caused by said deformations are calculated. Then values and are summed up values of actual longitudinal stresses in sections at borders of rail length sections are obtained and graphic representation of longitudinal stresses on rail length is plotted. Method makes it possible to determine longitudinally stressed state of rail length caused by changes of its temperature relative to fastening temperature and deformation of sections of rail lengths in length. ^ EFFECT: provision of operative checking.
