PURPOSE: A power saving apparatus for an electronic instrument is provided to cut off the power of the electronic instrument when a user's function selection is not inputted for predetermined time. CONSTITUTION: A function selection unit(102) selects various functions of the electronic instrument. A control unit(104) outputs a power cut-off signal when a function is not selected through the function selection unit for predetermined power cut-off reference time. A power cut-off unit(107) cuts off power being supplied to the electronic instrument according to the control signal. An OSD(On Screen Display) processing unit(106) produces an OSD message notifying power cut-off prearrangement time and outputs it through a video output device.
