PURPOSE: An electromotive swash plate type compressor is provided to reduce power consumption for driving a compressor, improve the durability by reducing frictional resistance, and improve the efficiency and performance. CONSTITUTION: A cylinder block(10) has a plurality of cylinder bores(11). Housings are arranged in front and rear of the cylinder block. A motor housing is formed on one side of the housing, having an electromotive motor inside. A driving shaft(40) is driven by the electromotive motor, and of which one side is rotatively supported by the cylinder block. A swash plate(50) is combined with the driving shaft, inclined at a predetermined angle for rotating with the driving shaft. A plurality of pistons(60) are mounted at an outer periphery of the swash plate by interposing shoes(51) to reciprocate in the cylinder bores in a straight line to compress a refrigerant, wherein the maximum stroke(s) of the piston is smaller than a diameter(b) of the cylinder bore.
