PURPOSE: Provided are a ultrasonic gel pad containing carrageenan and a preparation method thereof using tray, in which the ultrasonic gel pad has suitable gel strength and flexibility for ultrasonic diagnosis, as well as antibacterial property and excellent storageability, is harmless to the skin, moisturizes the skin excellently, and when used for ultrasonic diagnosis and treatment, it has high resolution. As using a tray in its manufacture, ultrasonic gel pads having various shapes, sizes and thicknesses are provided. CONSTITUTION: The ultrasonic gel pad is characterized by containing 0.1-10 wt.% of carrageenan, especially kappa carrageenan, 0-10 wt.% of a multivalent alcohol having a molecular weight of 200-8000 and 0.005-0.6 wt.% of a preservative including bronopol, methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, imidazolidinyl urea and the mixture thereof. The ultrasonic gel pad is manufactured by the steps of: adding water to carrageenan, multivalent alcohol and a preservative, followed by heating and stirring to give aqueous solution; pouring the aqueous solution into a tray and gelling it at 10-40 deg.C; and packing the gel sheet.
