The positioning device according to the invention has a base plate, which ca n be laid on a track. At least one stop block is attached to this base plate. This blo ck has first means acting on its bottom side during sliding of a movable instrument for its transfer into a position that is raised relative to the track and second means for fixing in the rais ed position. The positioning device has the advantage that it can be placed without contact with other neighboring components in a system on the track into the desired position. A movable instrument according to the invention provides a chassis and a housing structure resting on this chassis. The chassis has wheel units and at least one sliding element, which is assigned to a stop black of a positioning device and is attached to the bottom side of t he instrument. During sliding, the sliding element meets the stop block and is set in an active connection with first means for transferring the instrument into a raised position and when the raised position is reached, it is set in an active connection with two means for fixing the instrument. A movable instrument of this type has the advantage that the pressure forces occurring during centering due to the sliding on the stop blocks of the positioning device do not act directly on the housing structure, but instead via the support chassis.
