The invention provides a device for dislodging a float member from the valve seat of a float valve, particularly in the container of a gas scrubber which is used to separate liquid from a gas carrying such liquid. The device utilizes an annular collar which is secured to the container at the gas outlet and which will allow gas to pass therethrough. A bushing is provided above the collar and an elongated rod reciprocally extends through the bushing and the collar so that one end of the rod can be brought info contact with the float member. A lever mechanism is provided for effecting movement of the rod and in particular for bringing the one end thereof into force applying contact with the float member whenev er it is stuck to the valve seat. By applying the desired force to the float member through the lever and the rod it is possible to dislodge the float member without disassembling th e float valve itself. Once the float member has been dislodged the lever is moved in the opposite direction to move the rod away from the float valve so that the valve can then operate in a normal fashion. The device of the invention can be included with new float valve assemblies or it can be retrofitted as desired.
