COLD WEATHER BULK STACKER/RECLAIMER APPARATUS AND METHOD

An improvement in a bulk stacker/reclaimer of the type including a stack er conveyor (18) for stacking bulk material into a pile (22), a reclaimer conveyor (24) for removing bulk material from the pile (22) and a removing means (44) for transporting reclaimed material away from the stacker/reclaimer to a remote location. The improvement including a breaking means (42), interposed betwee n the reclaimer conveyor (24) and the removing means (44), to break apart froz en clumps of bulk material. The inflow to the breaking means (42) is in communication with the discharge of the relcaimer conveyor (24) and the outflow of the removing means (44) is in communication with the breaking means (42).
