TFT-LCD USING ORGANIC EL BACK LIGHT TO REMOVE A COLOR FILTER

PURPOSE: A TFT-LCD(Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) using an organic EL(ElectroLuminescent) back light is provided to use an organic EL device with high luminance as a back light unit to remove a color filter. CONSTITUTION: A TFT-LCD includes an LCD panel(46) and an organic EL back light unit(47). The LCD panel includes pixels arranged in a matrix form. Each of the pixels is composed of RGB liquid crystal cells formed of liquid crystal(44) interposed between a lower glass substrate(42B) and an upper glass substrate(42T). The lower glass substrate includes an ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) electrode and a TFT array(43B). The upper glass substrate includes an ITO electrode(43T). The organic EL back light unit includes RGB organic EL cells arranged in a matrix form. The RGB organic EL cells emit RGB colors corresponding to the RGB liquid crystal cells of the LCD panel.
