PURPOSE: A process is provided to produce N,N'-disubstituted-3,3'-dithiopropionamide in high yield and high purity, which prevents unnecessary peroxidation of an organic sulfur compound, controls oxidation easily, can recover the product and recycle a solvent. CONSTITUTION: The N,N'-disubstituted-3,3'-dithiopropionamide represented by the formula 1 is produced by oxidizing N-substituted-3-mercaptopropionamide represented by the formula 2, 0.4-0.5 equivalent(based on the N-substituted-3-mercaptopropionamide) of a peracid or hydrogen peroxide, and 0.001-0.5 equivalent(based on the N-substituted-3-mercaptopropionamide) of an iodine compound at 0-80deg.C in the presence of a solvent containing a water solution, an organic solvent, or an organic solvent containing a water solution. In the formulas, X and Z are hydrogens or alkyl groups and Y is hydrogen, a C1-C18 alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group of up to C10, an aralkyl group of up to C10, an aryl group of up to C10, a halogen-substituted aryl group, and etc.
