The device has a control loop (25) for a low pressure stage (9) that is associated with a low pressure sensor and an upstream temperature sensor of a low pressure compressor (10). Another control loop (24) is provided for a high pressure stage that is associated with a high pressure sensor (37) and an upstream temperature sensor (30) of a high pressure compressor (8). An independent claim is also included for a method of regulating the pressure of charged air in an internal combustion engine.
