PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for aiding security drive of a mobile terminal are provided to prevent fast driving of a user by outputting a warning sound and help the user by outputting road information in voice. CONSTITUTION: A character converter(12) extracts a character image from an image photographed by a camera(11), converts it into a corresponding character sequence, and outputs it. A car speedometer(13) senses a current speed of a car and outputs car speed data. A warning sound controller(14) compares a limit speed obtained by the character converter(12) and the car speed obtained by the car speedometer(13) and determines fast driving and outputting a warning sound. A warning sound transmitter(15) outputs a warning sound to a driver. A road information providing unit(16) converts a character sequence of a traffic sign into a form suitable for outputting in voice and outputs road information. A voice output unit(17) outputs the road information received from the road information providing unit(16) in voice.
