PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for saving battery power by adding a transmission/reception cutoff function when performing an alarm function of a mobile terminal are provided to prevent interference of a call or a message received while a user is asleep. CONSTITUTION: A controller checks whether a menu key is selected(311). If the menu key is selected, the controller displays a main menu(313). The controller checks whether an alarm function is selected(315). If the alarm function is selected, the controller checks whether a transmission/reception cutoff function is selected(317). If the transmission/reception cutoff function is selected, the controller inputs a transmission cutoff time selected by a user(319) and then displays completion of setting of the transmission/reception cutoff function through a display unit(321). The user inputs an alarm generation time, a bell sound and an alarm interval(323) and the controller stores the information for performing the alarm function in a memory(325) and checks whether current time is equal to the set transmission/reception cutoff time(327). If current time is equal to the set transmission/reception cutoff time, the controller is transited to a deep sleep mode(329). The controller checks whether a key is inputted from the user(331). If a key is inputted from the user, the controller releases the transmission/reception cutoff function(333) and displays a call and a message received during the deep sleep mode on the display unit(335). |
