PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a number setting device for a car, with an improved system reliability. SOLUTION: The number setting device for a car comprises a monitor display and a monitor central device provided on a lead car or backmost car, monitor terminals provided on a plurality of cars different from the one provided with the monitor central device, an inter-car through transmission signal line for transmission among a plurality of monitor terminals, and an analogue signal line provided for transmission between the monitor central device and the plurality of monitor terminals. The monitor central device provided on the lead car sets a car number to the monitor terminals provided on the cars and the monitor central device provided on the backmost car using the analogue signal line and the transmission signal line when the car is supplied with a power supply.
