PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an editing system wherein a computer can execute edit processing synchronously with a timing denoting a temporal top of a frame of video data. SOLUTION: A personal computer 2 in the editing system 1 transmits an acquisition command C1 to a timing notice apparatus 4 via a USB cable 3, and receives a timing notice signal S2 transmitted via the USB cable 3 in a frame timing from the timing notice apparatus 4 as a result. Thus, the timing notice apparatus 4 is externally mounted to the personal computer 2 via the USB cable 3 without the need for a troublesome job of mounting a PCI board to the inside of the main body of the personal computer 2 to easily notice the personal computer 2 about the frame timing as the reception timing of the timing notice signal S2. Consequently, the personal computer 2 acts like the editing apparatus for executing the edit processing synchronously with a prescribed timing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
