PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record data at a high bit rate and data at a low bit rate both from the same source in time division and in the meantime of the recording to read the recorded data at the low bit rate so as to utilize the read data for verification and tracking reproduction. SOLUTION: In the tracking reproduction, a plurality of tags respectively including low resolution data are collectively read for a margin time caused by continuously recording a plurality of cartons and the read low resolution data are reproduced. For example, 5 cartons corresponding to the received video signals for 10 seconds are continuously recorded and 5 tags are consecutively read for a margin time 1.6 (=5×0.32) second caused as a result so as to reproduce the low resolution data whose reproduction time is equal to 10 seconds.
