PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shadow mask for a color cathode ray tube, capable of assuring excellent screen visibility, and improving screen vibration characteristics. SOLUTION: The shadow mask for a color cathode ray tube comprises an area 23 having a dummy bridge 21 only, and a mix area having a dummy bridge 21 and a real bridge 22. The size of the dummy bridge in the area 23 having the dummy bridge 21 only is larger than the size of the dummy bridge in the mix area having the dummy bridge 21 and the real bridge 22.
