<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double deck elevator capable of matching the car floor height of an upper riding car and a lower riding car with the height of a hall floor of vertically adjacent stories. <P>SOLUTION: In the double deck elevator 1 having an upper riding car 6 and a lower riding car 5 in the vertical direction in a car frame 2, a car space adjustment mechanism 10 to move the upper riding car 6 in the vertical direction is provided.
