<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording material capable of direct plate making with high sensitivity from digital data of a computer or the like by recording using a high output laser, excellent in development latitude, and capable of forming a high resolution image excellent in contrast. <P>SOLUTION: The image recording material includes on a support a photosensitive/thermosensitive layer containing (A) an alkali-soluble resin, (B) a photothermal conversion material and (C) an active methylene polymer having a heterocyclic side chain represented by formula (I) (where P represents a polymer main chain; Y represents a divalent linking group; R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>each independently represent H or a hydrocarbon group; and n represents an integer of 10-1,000) and having solubility in an alkali developing solution increased by infrared laser exposure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
