PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent applying of an excessive torque to an output shaft 38a at a moment when a select lever is switched from the non-travelling condition to the travelling condition. SOLUTION: Rotating speed of an input side disk 2 is measured by an input side rotation sensor 64, and rotating speed of an output side disk 5a is measured by an output side rotation sensor 65. On the basis of measurement values of both the sensors 64 and 65, change gear ratio of a troidal continuously variable transmission 25a is obtained. Rotating speed of the output shaft 38a is obtained on the basis of the described change gear ratio and change gear ratio of a planetary gear type transmission 26b. In the condition that the select lever selects the non-travelling condition, even if the travelling condition is selected at that moment, change gear ratio of the troidal continuously variable transmission 25a is controlled so that the rotating speed of the output shaft 38a becomes zero or a remarkable low speed.
