PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device by which the shortening of warm-up time and the reduction of power consumption are attained by obtaining high heating efficiency. SOLUTION: A heating roller 21 is constituted of a light-transmissive cylindrical member 22, and is provided with a halogen lamp 23 at inside. A fixing belt 31 is an endless belt and is provided with three layers overlapped with each other, and three layers consist of a photothermal conversion layer 32, a base layer 33 and a released layer 34 in order from the side of the heating roller 21. A nip part where paper is inserted is formed by making a pressure roller 41 abut on a fixing roller 11 through the fixing belt 31 laid between the fixing roller 11 and the heating roller 21. Light transmitted through the cylindrical member 22 is converted into heat by the photothermal conversion layer 32, and the heat is generated on the surface of the fixing belt 31, so that unfixed toner is fixed. Since a belt is used as a heat generating member, heat capacity is reduced, so that the high heating efficiency is obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
