PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrifying member for stably electrifying over a long period, even in the case a high-definition image such as a half-tone image of 600dpi is outputted by a DC electrifying method, and also, even in the case the electrifying member is actuated at various processing speed, because of good electrification characteristics. SOLUTION: Regarding the electrifying member having a conductive supporting body, a conductive elastic base layer arranged on the conductive supporting body, and at least a surface layer arranged on the conductive elastic base layer, the surface roughness of the electrifying member is as follows, the ten-point average roughness Rz in JIS B0601-1994 is 2-20μm, also, a peak-to-peak distance Sm is≤0.5 mm, besides, as for the positional fluctuation of an abutting force in a roller axis direction when the member is brought into contact with a column having the same curvature as that of a photoreceptor with the same abutting force as that in use, a ratio of the maximum value of the abutting force at intervals of 5 mm in the axial direction to the minimum value of that is≤15 times.
