PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain extremely excellent radiation image information by optimizing the addition ratio of two pairs of image data in double-sided reading based on radiation source information related to a radiation source. SOLUTION: The corresponding addition ratio is selected from an addition ratio storage part 70 based on the radiation source information supplied from an X ray generating device 14 and a reading condition set by a reading condition setting part 72, and supplied to an addition ratio calculation part 78. The calculation part 78 adjusts the selected addition ratio in accordance with the image data, and an image data addition part 58 adds the image data obtained from the front surface of a stimulable phosphor sheet IP and the image data obtained from the rear surface thereof by using the adjusted addition ratio and obtains the desired radiation image information.
