PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for gasifying a flammable waste by which the byproduction of soot in a reformer can be reduced when a pyrolyzed gas of the flammable waste is converted to a reformed gas in the reformer; and to provide an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: The method for gasifying the flammable waste by reacting the pyrolyzed gas of the flammable waste with steam in the reformer to convert the pyrolyzed gas to the reformed gas comprises reacting the pyrolyzed gas with an oxygen-containing gas at≤900°C and further reacting the reacted pyrolyzed gas with the oxygen-containing gas at≥1000°C.
