PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary cargo handling device of a forklift capable of recognizing presence/absence of a perpendicular state of a mast according to presence/absence of transmission of beams passing through an optical fiber cable by connecting a light emission unit to a light source with the cable. SOLUTION: In the auxiliary cargo handling device of the forklift, a light source part 14 is disposed on a vehicle body side, and a light emission unit 13 to irradiate beams toward pallet insertion ports 12 is disposed on an elevating/lowering body 10 side, respectively so that the light source part is connected to the light emission unit via an optical fiber cable 15. Beams E from the light source part 14 reaches the light emission unit 13 via the optical fiber cable stretched over a lift cylinder, and are irradiated on the pallet insertion ports. In the auxiliary cargo handling device, a portion of the optical fiber cable across a tilt cylinder 11 is divided, a shielding member 17 protruded from the tilt cylinder is interposed between the divided optical fiber cables. A transmission port 17a to transmit the beams in the optical fiber cable is formed in the shielding member facing division port end parts 15a and 15b of the optical fiber cable only when a mast is in a perpendicular state.
