PURPOSE: A rotary shaft of a grinding machine is provided to quickly and precisely grind the surface of a roll without the separation of the roll and a choke. CONSTITUTION: A rotary shaft of a grinding machine is composed of a rotating unit for rotating a roll, a fitting unit for fitting a protrusion of the roll into a groove of a rotary body, and a fixing unit. The fitting unit includes a guide plate(202) coupled to a plurality of guide rollers(201), connecting rods(204) inserted into holes formed at the outer circumference of the guide plate, and a guide(206) having a fixing groove. The guide plate is slidably coupled to the guide. A plurality of springs(203) are coupled to the connecting rods, and are fixed to the guide. A connecting shaft(207) is coupled to the rear of the guide, and is connected to a fixed shaft(104). The fixing unit includes a plurality of rotary rollers(301) coupled to the guide, a placing unit(300), a sensor(302) installed at one side of the placing unit, a plurality of guide rods(303) disposed between the placing unit and a moving plate(305), a cylinder(307) operating the moving plate, and a position sensor(306).
