<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zirconia sintered compact stably exhibiting excellent wear resistance and durability through a long period even in warm water or a high humidity atmosphere at about 100°C or lower and a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The zirconia sintered compact having excellent wear resistance and durability is (a) a ZrO<SB>2</SB>-Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>based zirconia sintered compact in which the crystal of ZrO<SB>2</SB>is mainly a tetragonal system, (b) has a molar ratio Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>/ZrO<SB>2</SB>of 1.5/98.5 to 2.8/97.2, contains (c) 0.1-5.0 wt.% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, (d) 0.15 wt.% SiO<SB>2</SB>, (e) >0.15 wt.% to ≤3.0 wt.% in total of SiO<SB>2</SB>and TiO<SB>2</SB>, has (f) 0.20-0.70 μm average crystal particle diameter and (g) ≤50 ppm/hr maximum value of zirconia sintered compact wear ratio (media wear ratio) for every cycle in the 10 cycle operations in which one cycle operation is 10 hr in a condition of 60°C warm water using a medium stirring mill. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
