<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a general method for modifying the surface of a porous membrane with a free-radical polymerized polymer coating in a layer which is less than the thickness of the membrane, and a general method for modifying the surface of the porous membrane with a free-radical polymerized polymer coating to a predetermined and controlled depth from the surface of a first outer surface. <P>SOLUTION: This porous membrane comprises a first porous surface and a second porous surface both of which have each a coating layer with less thickness than the membrane thickness, and a continuous porous structure extending wholly in the membrane from the first surface to the second surface defining the thickness of the membrane. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
