PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for molding a thermoplastic resin which can obtain a molding having a uniform wall thickness without being affected by the shape of a mold and an apparatus for the method. SOLUTION: The heat-softened thermoplastic resin, with its periphery released, is placed on a mold, and an elastic sheet having plasticity or ductility is placed on the resin. By air-compressing and/or evacuating the sheet, the thermoplastic resin is pressed to the mold. When a mouth piece is manufactured, a tooth row model is used as the mold, and the thermoplastic resin which is not softened in a mouth is used. The molding apparatus is composed of a table on which the mold with the heat-softened resin placed on it is mounted, a means for making the sheet adhere to the mold from the resin side while the circumference of the sheet is fixed, a means for air-compressing the sheet from the sheet side to deform it plastically or elastically and/or a means for evacuating the sheet from the table side.
