PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium in which recording magnetic field sensitivity of a land part and that of a groove part are equalized and characteristics are excellent in a magneto-optical recording medium that is used by a land and groove recording system. SOLUTION: In this magneto-optical recording medium used in the land and groove recording system, the relation among mean film thickness A(L) of a recording auxiliary layer of a land part recording area, mean film thickness M(L) of a recording layer of the land part recording area, mean film thickness A(G) of a groove part recording auxiliary layer, and recording mean film thickness M(G) of the groove part recording area is defined as A(L)/M(L)
