PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera devised to shorten time required until starting photography. SOLUTION: A photometry part measures the brightness of field when a diaphragm member is of a predetermined 1st aperture caliber and also measures the brightness of field in halfway through shifting the diaphragm member from the 1st aperture caliber to a predetermined 2nd aperture caliber being a different caliber from the 1st aperture caliber when the brightness of field can not be measured in the case of the 1st aperture caliber. When the brightness of field is measured in halfway through shifting the diaphragm member from the 1st aperture caliber to the 2nd aperture caliber, an exposure control part controls exposure based on the measured brightness of field and the aperture caliber of the diaphragm member in timing to measure the brightness of field.
