PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain surging prevention performance equivalent to the present article for a long period of time, to simplify the structure of a surging prevention member, to reduce the cost of the same, and to facilitate mounting of the same into a coil spring 15 in a vibration isolator in which transmission of vertical vibration from a vibration source to a base is limited by the coil spring 15 and the surging of the coil spring 15 is prevented. SOLUTION: The vibration isolator includes the substantially cylindrical ring rubber 21 fitted in loops 15a, 15a and so forth of the coil spring 15. The ring rubber 21 is disposed such that its central axial line extends horizontally. Side portions 21b, 21b of the ring rubber 21 diametrically opposite along the horizontal direction are pressed diametrically by the loops 15a, 15a and so forth, under such a condition that at least corners of the outer peripheral surface of the ring rubber 21 in the widthwise direction are made in contact with inner peripheral surfaces of the loops 15a, 15a and so forth of the spring 15, so that the ring rubber 21 is so deformed as to have an ellipse-like cross-section.
