The self-supporting construction consisting of a kit, for the renovation of steps, has the new riser (16), the new tread step (15) and the new front element as prefabricated construction kit elements, the sub-structure of which consists of laminated wood which on the visible faces is interconnected by hot pressing with a decorative wear layer (18) by the use of a soft adhesive (20). The sub-structure of the front element is located below the sub-structure of the new tread step. The sub-structure of laminated wood of the new tread step and the sub-structure of the new front element are interconnected by hard adhesive (19) as a composite element prefabricated under pressure. The flexible decorative layer is installed break-free on the new tread step and new front element.
