PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label affixing position detector capable of controlling the position of a label with high accuracy at low cost by detecting the affixing position of a label affixed to an outer circumferential surface of a cylindrical body. SOLUTION: A cylindrical body with a label affixed thereto is rotated, light is irradiated by a light projector, and the light reflected by a label surface is received by a light receiver. Since no light is incident on the light receiver at the label affixing position by the step thereof, the label surface is identified from an affixing part, and the cylindrical body can be stopped at an arbitrary position to control the position of the label. Since the light quantity incident on the light receiver is considerably different between the label surface and the affixing part, the label affixing position can be easily detected with high accuracy, and the position of the label can also be easily controlled.
