PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the easy usability of time lapse photographing. SOLUTION: An image change detector 111 detects occurrence of a change in a sample to be an observing target. When the image change detector 111 detects a change in the sample after acquiring an instruction indicating the permission of operation start of time lapse photographing, a PC-CPU 110 controls the start of time lapse photographing operation to be performed by using the sample as an object.
