摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a space adjustment method which enables easy adjustment of a space between a recording head body and a reference plane, and has a high adjustment precision for the space, and to provide a space adjustment mechanism. SOLUTION: The space adjustment mechanism is configured to carry out space adjustment between the recording head body 14 and the reference plane 11a by moving the recording head body 14 up or down. The space adjustment mechanism includes a fixture setting process of setting a space adjustment fixture 60 with a butting part 61a to be a reference at the time of space adjustment at the reference plane 11a, an axial direction movement process of moving the recording head body 14 along a guide shaft 16 to be opposed to the space adjustment fixture 60 set at the reference plane 11a, a first lifting direction movement process of moving the recording head body 14 towards the space adjustment fixture 60, a butting detection process of detecting the presence or absence of butting of the recording head body 14 against the butting part 61a, and a space fixing process of making a detected space a fixed state on the basis of a butting state detected in the butting detection process between the butting part 61a and the recording head body 14.
