PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wood smoking and drying method for performing treatment of high quality by inexpensive equipment having a simple structure, and apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: In this method for smoking and drying wood 13 by supplying high temperature smoke and steam to a drying chamber, water is heated at the temperature of a smoke producing combustion part 21 to produce steam which is, in turn, supplied to the drying chamber 1. The combustion part 21 is subjected to burning operation under the drying chamber 1 and a heating tank 9 housing water is interposed between the drying chamber 1 and the combustion part 21 not only to produce steam by the heating of the heating tank 9 but also to bear at least a part of the heating in the drying chamber 1. This smoking and drying apparatus for wood is equipped with the combustion part 21 for producing smoke, the drying chamber 1 which receives the smoke to dry the wood 13 and a steam supply part 9 for supplying steam to the drying chamber 1. The steam supply part 9 is installed adjacent to the combustion part 21 and steam is produced in the steam supply part 9 by the heat from the combustion part 21. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
