PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method and machine for microstructural refinement by electromagnetic vibration. SOLUTION: In the invented continuous casting method, a metallic material is continuously cast with its metallographic structure being refined by electromagnetic vibration. The metallic material is put into a mold and is refined by applying an AC electric field and a DC magnetic field to a solid-liquid coexisting layer melted in a heating furnace around the mold. In a process of continuously drawing the metallic material cooled and solidified in a chiller, the thickness of the solid-liquid coexisting layer is controlled by adjusting the drawing speed of the solidified metallic material, the cooling conditions of the chiller and the heating conditions of the heating furnace around the mold.
