PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic paper sheet feeder capable of abutting a tip of a paper sheet bundle to be fed on a paper sheet feed tray on a stopper and reliably aligning the paper sheet bundle without employing any separate drive mechanism, and reducing the cost of components. SOLUTION: The automatic paper sheet feeder comprises a paper feed member 30 to shuffle and feed an original P in an original reader 12 on the immediately downstream side of an original feed tray 17, and a stopper to align a tip of the original P by the stop. The paper feed member 30 can be positionally changed between the evacuation position not to interfere the tip alignment of the original P by the stopper 40 and the paper feed position to feed the original P into the original reader 12 while the tip of the original P is abutted on an upper surface. The stopper 40 can positionally be changed between the paper sheet stopping position at which the stopper is not moved even when the tip of the original P is stopped while the paper feed member 30 is positioned at the evacuation position in an interlocking manner with the paper feed member 30 and the paper sheet passing position at which the paper feed member 30 allows the original P fed by the paper feed member 30 to pass by.
