PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing cushion member which prevents erroneous work without depending on the attention of the operator, and to provide a packing container. SOLUTION: The packing cushion members 1A, 1B function to cushion a shock to an item 25 to be packed, which is housed in the packing container 30 having side sections 31a to 31d, a bottom section closing a bottom opening of the side sections 31a to 31d, and a cover sections 32a to 32d for openably closing an upper opening of the side sections 31a to 31d. The packing cushion materials have projections 21 which are fitted into apertures 33a, 33b formed in the inner covers 32a, 32c of the packing container 30, respectively, when they are housed in the packing container 30 in a normal direction.
