The inlet pipe (1) consists of two sections. The first section (2) of the inlet pipe (1) is a standard, combined pipe (5), whereas the second section (4) is divided into the main channel (6) and the control channel (7) by a dividing wall (9). The second section (4) of the inlet pipe (1) connects the inlet pipe (1) with the inlet of the cylinder. Located at the transition (3) from section one (2) to section two (4) the inlet pipe (1) contains a valve arrangement (9) with three different settings. The first setting blocks the main (6) and the control channel (7), the second setting opens both channels and the third setting opens the main channel (6) and partly blocks the control channel (7). The valve arrangement (9) shows the functionalities of a swirl flap and/or tumble flap, which in the part load range enhances the filling of the cylinder to improve combustion.
