The invention essentially relates to the production of less immunogenic immunoglobulins by means of genetic engineering and, more specifically, to a monoclonal antibody recognising antigens which contain ganglioside N-glycoly l- GM3 but not other N-glycolyl- or N-acetyl-type gangliosides nor sulphated glycolipids. In particular, the invention relates to peptide sequences encoding a recombinant monoclonal antibody against ganglioside N-glycolyl-GM 3 or derivative fragments of same. The invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing the aforementioned antibody or fragments thereof and to the diagnostic or therapeutic use of same for breas t cancer and melanoma.
